F.A.Q

Frequently Asked Question on Cabzeus

Q : If only one input is used will I get a mono output or stereo output?
A :
You will get stereo outputs, just make sure the input goes to the Left Input (mono).

Q : Can it do the opposite, that is, combining the stereo inputs into a mono output?
A :
Yes Cabzeus can blend the two input signals producing a mono output which you can take from either the left or right output.
The blending occurs post-processing, thus (if desired) different speaker/cab/mic placement parameters can be applied to each signal independently prior to the blending..

Q : Can you bypass the speaker simulation?
A :
Absolutely.

Q : Will I damage Cabzeus if I accidentally let the phantom power
on my mixer turned on?
A :
Cabzeus has been designed to tolerate accidental application of phanthom power, it will not be damaged.

Q : How do I change the presets
?
A :
You can use the preset selector knob (the middle knob), an external switchbox (momentary / normally opened), or a MIDI controller.

Q : Can I use 18V power supply
with Cabzeus?
A :
No, and you don't have to. Cabzeus employs a charge pump circuitry which boost the 9V supply voltage to 18V for internal operating voltages, the highest supply voltage allowable is 12V DC.

Q : Do you have some descriptive information on the speakers selections?

Q : You mention that Cabzeus is a DI Box, how come it doesn't have outputs with XLR connectors?
A :
We have opted to use TRS socket jacks instead of XLR to achieve our goal of making Cabzeus as compact as posssible. It is true that in a Live situation XLR connection is almost always a necessity - for this, we propose using a TRS-to-XLR adapter cable. This adapter cable essentially converts the TRS socket jack into an XLR (male) connector that you can plug into the mating female XLR socket normally provided on stage. Using these adapters you instantly get a pair stereo balanced outputs!
This arrangement gives you the best of both worlds : a very compact speaker simulator + DI Box, and the flexibility of having TRS or XLR (through adapter) connections.

* You can purchase the adapter cable from us or make your own.
Q : Can you show me the typical routing / interconnection?
A :
Here's a couple of typical applications. Stompboxes or other effects processors may be put in place of the amp, in which case the speaker cabinet / load box should be disconnected, or replaced with an amp.
