Frequently Asked Questions on Synesthesia
Q : So only 3 parameters per algorithm?
A : There are 3 primary parameters, adjusted by turning the Speed, Depth, and Tweak knobs, then there are 3 secondary parameters, adjusted by turning the same Speed, Depth, and Tweak knobs while holding down the button. Note that each knob is also a button.
Q : Is it possible to quickly swap the X and Y settings? Say I have a phaser on X going into a chorus on Y, I want to know how it would sound if I have chorus going into the phaser instead.
A : Absolutely, we have included the XY Swap function to accomplish exactly that :
Q : Can I do tap-tempo on the pedal itself without using external tap tempo pedal?
A : Yes you can. There is an option to configure footswitch B/X as a preset button or as a tap-tempo button :
Doing this however takes away half of your presets, since footswitch B/X can no longer be used to call patch B.
Q : Can Synesthesia receive MIDI Clock signal?
A : Certainly. Not all algorithms can receive midi clock signal, the table below shows which does and which does not.
Q : Do you have a table that list of all the algorithms and their parameters?
A : Sure, here it is. A more detailed and complete information of each algorithm can be found in the Synesthesia - Algorithm Reference.pdf document.

A : Absolutely, we have included the XY Swap function to accomplish exactly that :
- Tap the X and Y button simultaneously. Do it again to swap back to original setting.

- Global >> Footswitch B/X > Tap Tempo

Q : I plugged in an expression pedal but nothing happened when I rock the pedal.
A : Make sure you have the expression pedal plugged in to the A.C.E jack before powering up Synesthesia. If you plug the expression pedal in when Synesthesia is already powered up it will not get recognized. Also, you must map at least one parameter knob to the expression. Consult the user manual or our tutorial videos for information on how to map a parameter knob to the expression pedal.
Q : Can I use 3rd party offerings for the Aux expansion switches?
A : Sure, as long as the switches conforms to our specifications : Momentary, and Normally-Opened (N/O).
Q : Will any expression pedal work?
A : The most important thing to watch for is the wiring polarity, the potentiometer's wiper must be connected to the Tip terminal of the jack. Some expression pedal has it's wiper connected to the Ring terminal instead, this will not work.

Expression pedal with 10Kohm potentiometer value will work best.
Q : I'm not getting any signal on the Left output, only the Right output is working.
A : Check the tiny switch below the USB and power jack (top side), it may have been inadvertently set it to Pre/Post position.
